R Us is devoted to the Appaloosa Horse and especially
to horses bred by Sunny Sierra Appaloosas in Carson City, Nevada.
Here you will find information about our friends and their Appaloosa horses.
Sunny Sierra Appaloosas is the barn name for quality Appaloosas bred
and raised by Bernice Dehl Schroer. She is a non-pro and lifetime member of the
Appaloosa Horse Club who has bred quality horses, one at a time, since
1976. Sunny Sierra Appaloosas strives for horses with pretty heads and balanced
frames that can ride as well as halter.
One of the best mares bred by Sunny Sierra Appaloosas was "GO SIERRA ZEPHYR" who was an own daughter of the World
Champion Halter Horse, TEXAGO by GOER. This great mare had a genetic rarity: She was homozygous for the Appaloosa gene.
This meant that she could not throw solid foals. She proved this by having 9 foals, all with color. Seven of those foals
were by quarter horse and solid stallions. As well as throwing color, she was a "100% producer" of those georgeous GOER heads.
A beautiful halter mare in her own right, GO SIERRA ZEPHYR achieved a ROM in halter as well as producing foals who
have earned 148.5 points in halter, 212 points in performance, 2 Club Champions, 1 Versatility Champion, and a Bronze
medallion winner. But ZEPHYR's best talent was riding. That mare loved
children and she loved to trail-ride through the Sierra mountains and any other mountain ranges here in Nevada. She
never once went lame.
